It’s often said of mothers and daughters that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. That’s the feeling we got when we met Chelsea (@withlovechelss) and her mum, Anita (@stylishlyfifty), for an early Mother’s Day shopping trip and photo shoot.

Not only is this mother-daughter duo both fun and fashionable, but we adore how they talk about their love of family, modern motherhood (Chelsea is a busy mum of four) and style.

We asked them to tell us about motherhood, Mother's Day and what they love most about each other.

What surprised you the most about becoming a mother?

Chelsea: The unconditional love that I felt for my children as soon as I found out I was expecting. And once they were born, it amazed me how quickly you adapt to the constant changes and challenges. Whether it’s juggling multiple responsibilities, learning to function on little sleep or figuring out new ways to comfort a crying baby, you discover strengths and patience within yourself that you didn’t even know you had.

Anita: How instantly and deeply I could love someone I just met. It rewires your priorities, your emotions and your strength. The level of love is overwhelming, but so is the responsibility.

What's the quality you appreciate the most about each other?

Chelsea: My mother is the strongest and most confident woman I know. She has continually taught us to shine bright, chase our dreams and has always been our biggest fan. She made our childhood magical, even in the mundane moments. I do my best to recreate those memories for my own children.

Anita: What I admire most in Chelsea is her unwavering patience, quiet resilience and the deep well of compassion she brings to every moment. She's endlessly supportive, and she carries a beautiful sense of tradition and legacy that she's passing on to the next generation.

What's your favourite way to celebrate Mother's Day?

Chelsea: Waking up in the morning to my children bringing me coffee in bed and showing me all of their homemade gifts. There’s no better feeling.

Anita: Surrounded by my children and grandchildren. Enjoying a great meal and receiving hand-made Mother's Day cards.
